Brandon Whitt to race for Specialty Racing in NASCAR Nationwide Series

Statesville, NC-based Specialty Racing has signed Brandon Whitt to pilot their NASCAR Nationwide Series entry for the balance of the 2008 racing season. Whitt will make his Nationwide Series debut in the #61 Specialty Racing Ford at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. "I am very excited to be a part of the Specialty Racing organization," Whitt remarked. "(Specialty Racing co-owner) Doug Taylor has a long history in NASCAR racing and I can't wait to work with him. The direction this team is taking is really positive and racing in the Nationwide Series will be a great opportunity for me." Co-owned by Taylor and Charles Shoffner, Specialty Racing was built upon the foundations of the Doug Taylor Motorsports team from the 1990s. Both owners have extensive racing experience as drivers and team managers at many levels of NASCAR competition from weekly racing up to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
