Brandon Whitt knew that he wanted to be a professional racecar driver even before he climbed into a go-kart for the first time at age 12. He actually started racing motorcycles at age 10 and drove go-karts from age 13 to 16 before turning his attention to stock cars. This third generation racer has been around race cars his entire life. His grandfather Jim Whitt was the 1969 super stock championship and his uncle Tobin reigned as the 1989 NASCAR late model sportsman king. Young Brandon became the first third generation racer at Cajon Speedway when he climbed behind the wheel of a late model sportsman in 1999, finishing 10th. Whitt’s stock car path would be cut short when he was selected to participate in the ELF La Filiere School in France, one of the premiere open-wheel schools in the world. Despite attending the world renowned school for over a year, Brandon’s desire to race stock cars never faltered. When he returned back to the states it was evident his path was calling him to the NASCAR ranks. Whitt spent the entire 2001 season prepping and planning for the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series by running late models. His efforts paid off and he won his first ever race at the 3/8 mile Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. From that point on, Brandon has rocketed up the stock car racing ladder. Starting with Rookie-of-the-Year honors in the NASCAR Southwest Series in 2002, Brandon steadily moved up step by step, impressing his fellow drivers and the NASCAR community with his skill and potential. Three years later, he was standing in victory lane, having scored his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory at Memphis Motorsports Park in a thrilling final-turn shootout. In November 2006, Brandon got the call to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut at Phoenix International Raceway. Over the next two seasons, Brandon focused on testing work along with a handful of starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series. 2008 will be a promising racing season for Brandon as he returns to full-time competition. An official announcement regarding his plans for 2008 is forthcoming. Brandon resides in Mooresville, North Carolina. FAST FACTS
